AMS Announces Industry-first Global Ethical AI Charter
16 April 2025 – AMS, the global talent solutions and consulting business, today announces the release of its Artificial Intelligence Industry Charter (“the Charter”), which establishes standards for the ethical use of AI in the talent acquisition and management industry, the first-ever external regulations created to provide guidance for professionals across talent management, human resources management, and business management.
The Charter is the written constitution of the AMS Ethical AI in Talent Board (“AI Board”) launched in November 2024, with the goal of establishing standards on ethical AI use, optimizing AI tools, and building on the sector’s progress in integrating AI into talent acquisition.
According to the UN Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) Technology and Innovation Report 2025, AI may impact up to 40% of jobs worldwide, and this estimate could be higher as AI-based technologies become more diverse and widespread. In this context, the AMS Charter provides a framework for ensuring that core human values permeate AI deployment across the entire talent lifecycle, from attraction and hiring to off-boarding processes, helping ensure that AI use is ethical, consistent, and minimizes risk.
The Charter’s standards comprise the following verticals: Transparency and Explainability; Fairness, Non-Discrimination and Accessible; Validation and Rectification; Data Minimization and Purpose Limitation; Data Privacy and Security; Candidate Experience; Human Oversight and Intervention; Ongoing AI Literacy and AI Upskilling.
Commenting on the launch, Gordon Stuart, Chief Executive Officer at AMS, said: “Globally, organizations are experimenting with how to best integrate AI into their talent acquisition and management processes. While these tools offer unprecedented opportunities, their novelty carries risk and up until the release of AMS’s AI Charter, there weren’t any best practices professionals could follow.”
“The Ethical AI in Talent Board has gathered some of the most respected and best minds in our industry to address these concerns and provide a baseline to guide our industry into the future. The charter is the first of many foundational materials to come as we continue to encourage the ethical and responsible development, adoption, and use of, AI in talent acquisition.”
The AI Board encompasses distinguished AI ethicists and independent professionals from a wide range of industries including business, human resources, academia and not-for-profit all brought together based on their expertise of the ethical application of AI in talent acquisition. The charter was signed and enacted by the following industry experts:
