Majority of lesbians delay coming out

It’s disappointing to read this research that lesbians are delaying coming out because of tired, harmful stereotypes.  Invariably this will mean that many are feeling that they can’t bring their true, authentic selves to work and are having to hide behind masks.  At AMS, our LGBTQ+ employee resource group (ERG) is led by 2 gay men, someone who identifies as non-binary and a lesbian – ensuring that we adopt a wider, inclusive approach to our LGBTQ+ strategy.

It is clear, however, that during Lesbian Visibility Week we all have more work to do to ensure that we create the right environments for lesbians to be themselves at work.  I’m interested to hear what other organisations are doing in this space – please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]
