Spoiler alert: No AI used in this post!
In my role I spend a lot of time talking with large organizations within Energy, Engineering & Industrials (EE&I) sectors and have noticed the same themes coming to the fore:
- Talent/skill shortages
- Weak pipelines of future talent
- Inability to flex and scale
- A challenge with ‘attractiveness’
Talent and skill shortages in EE&I sectors are acute, and they are causing businesses in these sectors to grow slower than if the talent they required was in plentiful supply. We have all seen countless statistics that illustrate this, and we can all find them by giving the right prompt to an AI-powered tool of our choice (although with a health warning that AI can be wrong of course!). This workforce challenge is damaging in many ways, because it means there are countless lost opportunities not only for businesses to grow faster, but also for individuals to take advantage of great opportunities for personal growth and development.
This is why I’m proud to work for an organization that is focused on working in partnership with clients that are facing these talent challenges.
At AMS we recruit over 30,000 early careers talents for our clients each year. We adopt skills-based approaches to consider both internal and external alternative talent pools that haven’t been probed before. We create completely new talent pools by upskilling and reskilling talent through our skills creation team – plugging the skills gaps that exist across today’s workforce and improving social mobility within communities as well. We also enable our clients to respond to short term uplifts in demand for their services by providing contingent workforce solutions that deliver the skilled talent they require temporarily. To optimize the chances of our clients securing the right talent we also advise on employer branding – enabling our clients to be as attractive as possible to potential talent.
Reminding myself of the impact our work has – enriching thousands of lives daily by opening doors to leading brands – gives me a real sense of purpose.
If you are a business, HR or TA leader, recognize some of the themes identified above, and could benefit from some of the services AMS provides, please reach out and let’s talk about how we might be able to solve some of these challenges together with what we call people powered partnership.
