Alexander Fraser is the Executive Vice President & Global Head of Private Equity at OMERS, overseeing their comprehensive ~C$30bn private equity program. He joined OMERS in early 2025 and is responsible for directing investment strategy across buyout, funds, co-investments and other PE initiatives, and managing the team and operations of the business.
Alexander’s track record as a private markets investor spans approximately twenty-five years, with deep experience with control buyouts and structured/minority investments across ticket sizes, industries, and global geographies.
Prior to joining OMERS, Alexander was a founding partner of a global structured equity initiative sponsored by Temasek. Before that, he was a Partner at Bridgepoint, where he launched the firm’s San Francisco investment office and co-led technology investments. Alexander also spent 16 years at GI Partners, a private investment firm in San Francisco, where he held a range of investment and leadership roles in private equity, real estate and digital infrastructure.
Alexander received his MBA from the Darden School at University of Virginia where he was a Shermet Award recipient. He also holds a BA from Colgate University, graduating magna cum laude. He currently serves as a Trustee at the Branson School in California and was previously a Trustee at Mark Day School and the Bay Area Discovery Museum.
